EAS Transition Services
With airports joining the Essential Air Service (EAS) program every
few months, and with new airlines bidding on EAS routes with each
request for proposal, it’s never been more important for an airport,
and a community, to methodically evaluate each proposal before
making its community recommendation. Sixel Consulting Group has
years of experience in evaluating the merits of EAS proposals,
explaining those proposals in community meetings, and helping
communities work with the Department of Transportation to secure the
best possible air service.
Once the DOT has
awarded new service, SCG team members work with communities to
ensure they get the best possible schedule for service, along with
fares that are as competitive as possible with other air service in
the region.
Our team works to determine the best potential schedule for new
flights with the EAS carrier, developing specific connection
matrixes for potential schedules, and determining the best possible
schedules for the widest array of one-stop connections over the new
hub. We then work with EAS carrier to ensure our client airport’s
schedule is as close to the ideal as is feasibly possible.
We also work hard to develop a detailed pricing analysis of service
on the EAS carrier with similar stage lengths to determine the
optimum local and beyond fare for new EAS service. As part of the
project, our team works with the new EAS carrier to ensure local
fares are as competitive as possible with other airports in the
region. Additionally, our team works to ensure the EAS carrier has a
rational beyond pricing agreement with the mainline carrier under
its codeshare agreement. This second step is important as most
traffic will be flowing over the new hub on the mainline carrier,
with the mainline carrier retaining pricing control.
Once the EAS service is ready for transition and launch, our team
can help market the service change to the community and the region,
directing marketing campaigns and advertising efforts. Sixel
Consulting Group also has experience in working to transition the
elite status of your most frequent flyers over to the new carrier,
ensuring their local airport loyalty.
