DULUTH HITS ALL-TIME PASSENGER RECORD

SCG-RECRUITED ROUTE CREDITED WITH DEVELOPING COMPETITION IN MARKET, AND BRINGING FARES DOWN

PORTLAND, OREGON (August 27,2007) – Duluth International Airport officials say passenger traffic in July was the highest ever recorded for any month in Duluth Airport’s history.   37,239 total passengers passed through the airport’s gates in July of this year, which exceeded the previous record of 35,361 passengers recorded in July of 2004.  Part of the reason for the jump in passengers has been the addition of Midwest Airlines’ service to its Milwaukee hub – a route recruited by Sixel Consulting Group.

Airport Authority Executive Director, Brian Ryks says, “These strong passenger numbers are essential for retaining and attracting new airlines to our market as competing airlines ensure lower fares for the traveling public.  We are very encouraged the Duluth Superior region is committed to supporting the new levels of air service we have brought to the airport.”

July 2007 passenger traffic is up 31% over the same month in 2006.  Year to date passengers (201,663) are up 18% over 2006.  Equally impressive is that year to date passengers are 9% ahead of 2004 when the airport set an all-time record of 316,972 total passengers.

Northwest Airlines and its code share partners operate seven regularly scheduled flights to and from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport and two daily roundtrip flights to Detroit.  Midwest Airlines operates three daily roundtrip flights between Duluth and its Milwaukee hub.   Allegiant Air offers twice weekly non-stop service between Duluth and Las Vegas.
